I’ve met another TA walker, little Annie from Quebec who is a French Canadian and has been on the trail since December 19th. I met her having her lunch by the river about midday today. Some things have started to come together. annie was the “little elf” that left her earings at Hilton and Melva’s place (the giant was Albert the swedish guy. It was Annie who got lost in the forest at Peter Griffiths place and had to spend night without shelter (with Martin the WWOFer). It was annie who camped near the 700km mark and met the forest workers. She is quite a character with a free spirit very artistic leaning and has a book of her drawings she is making as she travels the TA. She face paints and is a real clown too. She had been living in a cabin in the woods with no power or water (draw from creek) for the last year. Annie has the most selection of foodstufs of any hiker I’ve seen to date (we had redbush tea followed by dandelion root “coffee” as a brew, and she has packets of all the staples, dried toms, fruits, spices etc in little bags).

Another amazing fact is that Annie can pee standing up which from the limited understanding I have of the dynamics involved is quite an achievement.

We manged to ge to the Rangiriri pub around 6pm (after a frantic dash across state highway) and had a couple of drinks (issacs cider very nice). Chatted to “Blue” the barman who lent me his car to go ove rthe bride to chek out a suitable camp ground. Annie and i shared a feast of wedges and chicken thai curry, wedges even too much for me so these will be saved for brekkie.
